Peelings

What are peelings?

They have been used in dermatology for skin renewal many years now. We use special substances that cause controlled “damage” to the skin’s surface layers forcing it to regenerate.

Usually there is a series of sessions (every 7 or 15 days), depending on the skin needs. As a result the skin looks more radiant, youthful, clear and healthy.

At what age should they be performed?

They are suitable for all ages. In puberty, peelings are used to fight oiliness and acne. Later, to refresh and hydrate the skin. At older ages to reverse photo-aging and help the skin regain a more youthful look.

Is it indicated for all skin types?

Generally, it is not indicated for very fine, sensitive and intolerant skin, as well as when there are spider veins.

What time of the year should they be performed?

It is preferable to have them when there is no intense sunlight, namely from October to May. When you are under treatment, you should always use sun block and avoid exposure to the sun. Exceptionally, microdermabrasion can also be performed in the summer. The use of sun block is essential in any case.

Are there are numerous types of peelings?

Yes and each type meets different needs. The most common are the following:

AHA (fruit acids, usually glycolic) can be used for finer skin, because they are milder and do not cause skin exfoliation; several peeling sessions are required for a good result, but the skin glows already after the first one. They are helpful for acne, especially when combined with facial cleansing. Especially for acne, a specific PEELING is used combining AHA and BHA (i.e. glycolic and salicylic acids), which offers excellent results. After 6-8 sessions, spots and melasma are improved. Dry skins are hydrated more effectively.

ΑΗΑ anti-aging properties

It has been proved that repeated use of fruit acids contributes decisively to anti-aging. This is because skin cells are renewed, its thickness and elasticity increase and hyaluronic acid is produced.

TCA (trichloroacetic acid), ideal for photo-aged skins, skin surface and pigmentation irregularities, spots and oily skin. After the first 4-5 days the skin starts to exfoliate (peel). The extent of exfoliation depends on the acid concentration, which determines the depth of the peeling action. The result shows in a week. It offers major renewal of the skin, which appears clearer and firmer.

PEELINGS specific to melasma contain exfoliating and whitening substances. They are performed in combination with other treatments or alone.
